ANcybernetics S.r.l. (ANcyb) is a deep-tech start-up based in Ancona, Italy, born as an academic spin-off of the Università Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM). The company develops underwater robotic systems for marine monitoring and critical infrastructure inspection. Its technologies combine bio-inspired propulsion, autonomous navigation, modular sensing, and smart digital tools for a smarter, more accessible, and sustainable blue future.
The goals that define the work of ANcyb are:
- Develop advanced robotic technologies for continuous monitoring of marine environments and critical infrastructure, combining bio-inspired propulsion, autonomous navigation, and intelligent sensing.
- Create digital technologies, including simulations, digital twins, and smart data systems, to support underwater operations, training, and mission planning.
- Design modular payloads and intelligent sensors for environmental data acquisition, advanced acoustics, 3D reconstruction, and real-time subsea observation.
- Promote ocean awareness and environmental responsibility through educational robotics platforms, outreach initiatives, and hands-on tools that strengthen STEM and digital skills.
At ANcyb, we develop silent, efficient, and bio-inspired robotic systems that make subsea inspection more continuous, scalable, and practical in real-world operations. Our mission is to change how the underwater world is monitored. Our vision is to bring underwater robotics out of the laboratory and into everyday operations.
Alongside industrial innovation, ANcyb maintains a strong commitment to education and knowledge transfer. The company works with schools, universities, and research institutions across Europe and has contributed to international initiatives such as the Erasmus+ projects RoboPisces (RoboPisces) and RoboAquaria (Roboaquaria – Robots in aquatic environments to promote STEM & environmental awareness). Through these collaborations, ANcyb helps educational communities integrate robotics and digital technologies into everyday learning. These initiatives promote hands-on experiences that combine robotics, programming, environmental awareness, and problem-solving. The company’s educational platforms are designed to adapt to different learning contexts, allowing students to explore science and technology through practical experimentation.
“Engineering the Ocean. Inspiring the Future.”
.The following key staff members will be directly involved in the project:
- Giacomo Fiara Chief Marketing Officer and co-founder of ANcybernetics. He holds a degree in Electronic Engineering and is pursuing further studies in Management Engineering. Robotics, IoT, and the idea of working on a startup have been of interest to him since high school. Fascinated by industrial design, he wants a more inclusive and avant-garde school.
